$90,000Department:Women's Business CenterPosition Summary:The South
LA Women's Business Center (WBC) Business Advisor plans and
organizes a comprehensive array of business programming, public
training, and counseling and business support services to meet the
needs of business owners, start-ups, and new entrepreneurs. The WBC
focuses on providing these services to women, communities
predominantly of color that are socially and economically
disadvantaged, and to other business owners who seek support.An
Honor to Serve:This position is a leadership role in a division of
a non-profit organization (Vermont Slauson EDC). The WBC Business
Advisor will work with the director to assist with all aspects of
planning, organizing, and implementing the goals of the WBC. The
Business Advisor ensures that WBC clients receive the services and
resources they need to succeed at various stages of their business.
The position also includes interacting with other service agency
partners and community stakeholders. The Business Advisor will
support the planning of events and program development and
strengthen community support and funds for the Center's
activities.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assisting the Director of WBC and the WBC team to maximize
productivity and managing internal and external
communications.
- Manage program protocols and help strategize, implement, and
maintain program processes that adhere to program objectives.
- Manage program and client data collection to ensure timely
reporting and program goals are reached for all entities,
including, but not limited to:
- Small Business Administration (SBA)
- Association of Women's Business Centers or Funders / Donors /
Board
- Impact Reports (Programs/Annual)
- Work closely with the Director of WBC to facilitate
deliverables and timing for all program initiatives.
- Manage Social Media pages in partnership with the Marketing
department.
- Schedule meetings and contract/grant follow-ups with external
representatives.
- Identify key requirements needed for external vendors.
- Conduct bi-monthly program audits for compliance.
- Attend staff City or County of Los Angeles Community
Development meetings and trainings as required.
- Assisting on average 25 entrepreneurs/weekly.Required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work
with/support a diverse base of entrepreneurial clients.
- Adept at providing business counseling/technical assistance to
entrepreneurs.
- Comfortable speaking to small and large groups.
- Creative in their ability to design and market the WBC program
through a variety of methods and channels.
- Organized in record-keeping and reporting, particularly
detail-oriented and responsive to SBA and federal reporting
deadlines.
- Collaborative, able to build positive peer relationships with
government offices, non-profit agencies, and other community
stakeholders in Los Angeles.
- Strong relationship-building and relationship-management skills
with all stakeholders (e.g., employees, clients, funders, and
partners).Computer Skills:To perform this job successfully, an
individual should be proficient in MS Office Suite [Word, Excel,
PP, SharePoint], Google Suite, ChatGPT, and Project Management
Tools. Understand how to navigate on the internet for research
projects.Work Environment:The noise level in the work environment
can be moderate at times. Must possess the ability to work in a
fast-paced environment. Must be highly organized and
detail-oriented.Physical Demands:Physical demands are required in
this position. Occasional community work and/or various community
outreach events (e.g., health fairs, faith-based meetings). At
times, may be standing for up to one hour at any given time, some
walking. Ability to lift file boxes weighing between 15 and 20
pounds.Salary + Benefits:Salary depends upon experience. VSEDC

- A background in business, program management, marketing,
banking, or financial management with at least four years of direct
experience in the private or non-profit sector.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Computer literacy and internet research is required.
- Experience managing a federal grant program or previous work
with the SBA is a plus.
- Experience leading teams and managing partnerships with various
stakeholders.
